There will be a Train Campaign meetup at the Prairie Whale in Great Barrington soon – date to be confirmed and we’ll be sending out an announcement in a few days. If you’re able to host an event, we’ll be glad to help with a speaker (to answer questions and bring friends and neighbors, or your community group, up to date), and we need fundraiser hosts, too, in different parts of the region. These can be very casual or we’ll be glad to talk about your gala ideas. Donations and support enable us to provide materials and outreach to the local community.

I know there are a lot of New Yorkers who have second homes in my town of Sandisfield – I would be willing to hold a get-together any weekend at my home, just let me know.
That would be terrific! We’ll be discussing information/social Train Campaign events this evening at the Prairie Whale in Great Barrington, and will be in touch – unless we have a chance to meet you there.
I took the Amtrak train from Pittsfield to Boston on Friday, May 23. pluses: (1) I could walk from my home to the train, then to my hotel near the convention center. (2) The ticket cost only $21, and I had a very comfortable seat. (3) The route between Hinsdale and Springfield was quite beautiful – different from the Mass Pike scenery. (4) I could take a nap when I was tired and actually read a book.
The negatives: (1) The train arrived two and a half hours late. (2) The trip took almost 5 hours because of signaling, track problems, and weather. (3) I had to take the bus back to Pittsfield (quite unpleasant) during the following week because the westbound train from Boston leaves before noon.
